The Zulu word, "Ubuntu," best represents the brand for
which our organization is known. Ubuntu (Oooooh-Boon-too) is
a Zulu humanitarian philosophy that is still practiced today
across southern Africa and beyond. It is a way of thinking
about and acting on what it means to be human. This
philosophy includes trust, respect, love, kindness, help,
support, compassion, hospitality, empathy, generosity,
gentleness, and toughness. As a people harnessing a
collective paradigm through life, community, and society,
Ubuntu's philosophy focuses on the values of how an
individual should behave towards others.
Archbishop
Desmond Tutu described it best, "My humanity is caught up,
is inextricably bound up, in what is yours."
We
firmly hold true and uphold the Ubuntu Philosophy at Ubuntu
Community Catalyst. As we serve communities near and far,
our motto is: I Am Because We Are.
